What this is
The Font World is a practical typography resource. We publish font pairings that actually work, roundups of the best free fonts by use case, and clear guides to setting type well — on the page and on the web. No jargon for its own sake, no “top 100” filler.
Open-license first
Nearly everything we recommend is free under an open license — the Google Fonts library and typefaces released under the SIL Open Font License. We link to the official source for every font and we never host or redistribute font files. Where a font is free for personal use but not commercial, we say so, because a licence surprise is an expensive one.
When it started
The Font World started in 2026. No borrowed history, no imaginary print heritage — just useful, current typography advice.
Who writes it
Articles carry The Font World Editorial Team byline. We care more about being right and specific than about personal brands. Font names, samples and pairings are shown for identification and education; every typeface belongs to its designer or foundry.
